As with many of today’s wind bands our history has a strong military connection and our origins can be traced back to the Border Regiment Association Band. Much has changed over the decades and we have evolved from a marching brass band into a seated concert band but we remain proud of our heritage, and delighted to have built and maintained a strong relationship with local military charities including the Royal British Legion and RAFA.

Our recent history has included some very sad times for the band. In 2017 we lost four longstanding members. Alan Branstone (bandmaster & trumpeter) who led the band for 15 years, Maureen Wilson (percussionist), Les Pratt (saxophonist) and Jo Taylor (clarinetist). A memorial concert was held in St Aidan’s Church in April 2018 as a tribute to their lives.

Following Alans sudden death the band was delighted to have the opportunity to welcome Tom Howe to the post of Bandmaster and Musical Director. Tom held the post from 2018 until he stood down in 2023.
